DAVID LOPEZ, AIA, LEED AP
David has 25+ years of experience as a builder, designer, fabricator, and teacher in Hawaii, Seattle, Washington, and Baltimore, Maryland. Born and raised in Baltimore, he has an intense interest in detailing and construction means and methods, ensuring that projects meet their aesthetic intentions.
As such, he spent 8 years working for Bellan Construction in Seattle, where he managed several high-end single-family residential projects, worked on development/design/build projects, and helped set up and manage the company's cabinetry fabrication shop. Returning to Baltimore in 2005, he transitioned back into architecture at Hord Coplan Macht as a project architect for ten years, leaving the firm to start LED-BETTER STUDIO in 2015. During that time, he has also taught architecture and design for 7 years at both Morgan State University and the Maryland Institute College of Art. His work experience while at HCM was a mixture of Healthcare, Education, and Housing studio projects, involved in all phases from schematic design through construction administration.
More recently, David’s expertise has been focused on the development of a Commercial studio to partner with the well-established Housing studio at Twopoint. David’s project portfolio includes several breweries, restaurants, business/office spaces, and retail-related tenant improvements. David enjoys working on rehabilitation projects in older or existing building fabric – trying to find ways to marry the functions and needs of the commercial sector with the history and beauty of buildings constructed in a past era.
