The existing 3-story house, a former farmhouse built in the early 1900s, sits amid a collection of existing out-buildings and at the edge of a tree line and open 3.5 acre field. The design intent for the addition/renovation was to complement and respect the historical character of the site through use of vernacular forms while creating a stronger relationship between interior and exterior. The proposed 800 square foot addition includes a new kitchen, bathroom, studio, and family room. The existing house will also be remodeled to include additional bedroom suites and bathrooms. Exterior upgrades will include new siding, roofing, and landscaping.
