KATHLEEN LECHLEITER, FAIA
Kathleen M. Lechleiter, FAIA, is a registered architect with more than 30 years of practice across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and the mid-Atlantic. She is the founder of Twopoint Studio, LLC (formerly k.lechleiter ARCHITECT LLC), a certified MBE/DBE with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and a Women-Owned Business (WBE) with the City of Baltimore. Her portfolio includes commercial and multi-family housing, with expertise in historic renovation. Much of her work is concentrated in Baltimore, where she has designed market-rate, affordable, and transitional housing, with a nuanced understanding of how diverse housing types shape community life.
Alongside her practice, Kathleen is dedicated to teaching and mentorship. She is adjunct faculty at Morgan State University’s School of Architecture + Planning (SA+P) and at North Dakota State University’s School of Design, Architecture, and Art (SoDAA), where she also chairs the Advisory Board. Her civic leadership includes service as former Chair and Board Member of The Women’s Housing Coalition, membership on the Fells Point Design Review Committee, and her current role as the College of Fellows Regional Representative for the Middle Atlantic Region.
Lechleiter regularly contributes to professional conversations on architecture and housing. She presented “Inspire to Thrive: Housing” at the 2020 IIDA Mid-Atlantic Breaking Boundaries series, spoke at the 2022 AIA Conference on “Scatter Sites: Seeking Housing Justice,” and will join the 2025 AIA Women’s Leadership Summit for a panel discussion titled “Centering Authenticity: Learning from Indigenous Design.”
Her work and advocacy have earned recognition from AIA Baltimore, AIA Minnesota, Baltimore Heritage, the Maryland Governor’s Housing Conference, the Daily Record, and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials.
