Located in Southwest Baltimore County, Lansdowne Gardens is a 167-unit affordable housing community that has undergone significant renovation to better serve its residents. Originally built in the 1970s, the garden-style apartment complex includes one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes, each with updated kitchens, baths, and finishes, as well as laundry facilities and storage in every building.
The renovation introduced new energy-saving systems, improved accessibility, and refreshed shared spaces to create a healthier, more sustainable living environment. A new community building with administrative offices, outdoor amenities, walking paths, and a playground adds to the sense of connection and livability. Twopoint Studio led the architectural work, providing both the earlier rehabilitation and the most recent upgrades, with financing supported through the 9% LIHTC program.
Lansdowne Gardens was the recipient of a Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP) grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 2024. This initiative provided the funding for creating a net-zero multi-family housing project and included electrification of the entire complex and solar energy generation to reduce overall energy demands.
More than a physical upgrade, the project emphasizes long-term affordability and resident well-being. By combining durable design strategies with community-centered amenities, Lansdowne Gardens strengthens neighborhood stability while offering modern, efficient homes that meet the evolving needs of families.
