The renovation of Mend Acupuncture’s Canton Crossing location reimagined a former tile and carpet showroom as a wellness clinic rooted in calm, comfort, and accessibility. Working within the large retail shell, the design introduced a sequence of treatment spaces that balance privacy with community. Individual rooms were carefully proportioned to support ease of interaction between practitioner and client, while community acupuncture areas provide a shared healing environment with subtle partitions and acoustic control to preserve comfort.

The entry and lobby establish the tone of the clinic: warm finishes, muted colors, natural textures, and soft, layered lighting create a sense of refuge from the bustle of Canton Crossing. Materials were selected to dampen sound, soften the atmosphere, and reinforce a sense of wellness. Circulation flows clearly from reception to treatment zones, with wayfinding shaped by lighting and material transitions rather than signage alone.

By integrating Mend’s brand values into the architecture—serenity, accessibility, and holistic care—the renovation transforms a utilitarian storefront into a restorative environment. The result is a clinic that not only supports diverse modes of acupuncture and wellness practice but also conveys a consistent identity across Mend’s growing network of Baltimore locations.
