MURA STREET REVITALIZATION

CLIENT: ReBuild Metro
CONTRACTOR: Clipper Construction and Cross Street Partners
The Mura Street Revitalization project represents the next chapter in the revitalization of Johnston Square, a neighborhood shaped by the vision and dedication of its residents. In partnership with ReBuild Metro and the ReBuild Johnston Square Neighborhood Organization, Twopoint Studio is leading the design of 18 rehabilitated rowhomes on the 700 block of Mura Street. Acquired from the City of Baltimore, these formerly vacant houses are being thoughtfully reconfigured: select properties are combined to create larger, family-sized homes, others are rebuilt, and a few severely deteriorated structures are removed to make room for parking and green space.
Mura Street is part of ReBUILD Metro’s nearly two-decade-long effort in Johnston Square to lower vacancy and restore whole blocks. This phase builds on prior neighborhood homeownership and legacy-repair programs, pairing physical rehabilitation with community planning and affordable homeownership supports. Guided by local leaders and longtime residents, the project reflects a shared commitment to restoring dignity, stability, and opportunity in a long-disinvested part of East Baltimore. With construction underway, Mura Street is poised to become a vibrant example of what’s possible when grassroots leadership and long-term investment come together to support equitable neighborhood change.
