SUSPENDED BREWING / HAMPDEN
LOCATION: Hampden, Baltimore, Maryland
YEAR: Fall/Winter 2025
SIZE: 1,200 SF
CLIENT: Suspended Brewing Co.
Suspended Brewing Co. is set to reopen in Hampden at 3851 Falls Road, a 144-year-old building with deep roots in the neighborhood’s early development. Originally part of Martin Kelly’s speculative landholdings along Falls Road in the late 1800s, the property has seen many lives before becoming the future home of Suspended’s net-zero taproom.
The new location offers an opportunity for reinvention. After seven years in Pigtown and a pause in operations, the brewery’s co-founders envisioned a space that would reflect their values as much as their beer. The Falls Road building will undergo a careful transformation to balance historic character with ambitious sustainability goals. Plans include solar panels, insulated floors, high-performance glass, and permeable pavers, all working toward a taproom that produces as much energy as it consumes.
Inside, the two-story space will host an intimate taproom with seating for about 40 guests, while an upstairs room will be available for private events. A courtyard with picnic tables and string lights extends the experience outdoors, providing a quieter setting away from the high energy of Falls Road.
Set along a growing stretch of Falls Road that includes neighbors like Wicked Sisters, Good Neighbor, and Papi’s Tacos, Suspended Brewing is preparing to anchor its next chapter in a space that honors both heritage and future potential.
