The Worthington occupies one of Canton Square’s most prominent corners, reimagining the former Looney’s Pub as a contemporary destination for dining and nightlife. Following a shift in the post-COVID restaurant landscape, when many City locations were sold to focus on County operations, the new owners envisioned a complete refresh, elevating both the atmosphere and menu while enhancing the building’s connection to the Square.
A major design move adds a second-level, wrap-around deck, offering expanded dining and premium views of the surrounding nightlife. The front façade is reimagined with two large Active-wall sliding and folding door systems, opening the upper-level bar and dining space to the activity outside. These interventions blur the boundary between interior and exterior, amplifying the social energy at the heart of the Square.
Behind the scenes, the building required extensive structural stabilization—a common challenge in Fells Point and Canton’s older establishments. New supports not only ensured the building’s longevity but also enabled the open, flexible spaces central to the updated concept.
