Celebrating Design & Preservation
OCTOBER 10, 2025
This fall, two of our recent projects were recognized with a total of seven design and preservation awards; an honor that reflects not only the work itself, but the people and partnerships that made it possible.
The transformation of the Poppleton Recreation Center was guided by the vision and commitment of Southwest Partnership and the Poppleton community, whose advocacy shaped every step of the process. We are also grateful to Nathan S. Leblang and Stephen Matthias of Designbank, Inc., whose original design established the modern “play machine” that continues to define the building’s character today. The project was recognized with five awards, including honors for historic preservation, social equity, and community impact.
The Hollins Market Shed Building Interior Renovation was similarly shaped by collaboration. Thoughtful stewardship by Baltimore Public Markets helped reestablish the Shed Building as a vibrant, welcoming gathering place, earning two awards celebrating excellence in preservation.
We are deeply thankful for the dialogue, care, and shared commitment that defined both projects—and for the opportunity to help bring meaningful community spaces to life in Baltimore.
